10 years ago on a video game website in a country far, far away…

… Lauren started her journey into video games podcasting and journalism.

One of her close friends asked if she wanted to join a podcast talking about Kingdom Hearts called “Kingdom Hearts Union”. Her equipment then was a Microsoft LifeChat microphone and her little Dell laptop.

Having experience in acting thanks to her Theatre degree and starring in independent short films, Lauren found discussing one of her favorite game franchises on a podcast to be exciting and fun!

After becoming the host of “Kingdom Hearts Union”, Lauren also moved on to becoming co-host of “Final Fantasy Union” and this opened up a world of possibilities.

Lauren started the She Plays Games Podcast in August 2019.

She Play Games was created as a way to celebrate the women who Lauren had met in the video games industry and shine a light on their inspirational stories.

Her goal is to make the video games industry a better and more inclusive place and to raise awareness about the different paths women can take to get into their dream job.

In addition to podcasting, Lauren also contributed to Gaming Union, a video games publication that at its peak was generating over 500,000 page views a month. Taking ownership of editorial on Final Fantasy Union, she was on the pulse of news and conducted interviews with numerous voice actors like Troy Baker and Laura Bailey, even collaborating with Square Enix for an official suite of interviews with the voice cast of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD.

Currently Lauren is the video producer for Final Fantasy Union’s YouTube channel, which has amassed over 150,000 subscribers, and she still acts as the co-host of Final Fantasy Union, which has now been downloaded more than 1,500,000 times.

You could say Lauren is a Square Enix fan… and you’d be right… But that’s not all!

Lauren is also a big fan of the Souls franchise, simulation games like The Sims and Planet Zoo, platformers like Sonic the Hedgehog and Rayman, and horror games like Silent Hill… but only to watch. She just can’t resist a good lore, damn it!
